What band did you discover in 2011 (can be a brand new band or an older band) that had an impact on your life? What made them significant?
Young and in the way. Sometimes it's difficult to explain just why something resonates with you, but it will grab your attention and keep you listening. They're a band with a sound that appeals to us, and what they're doing feels new and exciting.
How will you remember 2011 (in terms of music)?
A more exciting DIY scene in a business that is dying and bleeding money. Tons of good bands are popping out and playing out of sheer love for music, and having to pay for everything out of their own pockets mean bands are more in charge of their own products. Vinyl is making a comeback and bands are taking more pride in providing a good package in terms of music, artwork and design.
What can we look forward to from you in 2012?
Writing a lot more music and releasing a second full length album. Our first full length consisted of songs made 2-3 years ago and we didn't have an opportunity to create something new until our Plague Embrace ep, which we feel is more relevant in terms of where we are musically now. The first half of the year we will dedicate to writing music and getting the band on the road. Second half of the year we will spend recording a new album. We do not wish to spend more than a year between records and would like to have a steady input of new songs.
What records are you looking forward to most in 2012?
We don't know of anything specific to be released next year, but we look forward to another year of checking out new music and digging into the grand musical history to find some hidden classics.
What did you expect to be huge in 2011 which never made it?
Nothing comes to mind. The news of a collaboration between Metallica & Lou Reed was pretty exciting until we got the chance to hear it. Although it's a horrible album, to Metallica's credit it's the most interesting thing they've done in 20 years.
