Poet, musician, and author Jim Carroll passed away late last week as a result of a heart attack. In addition to fronting the Jim Carroll Band, Carroll collaborated with numerous musicians across a wide spectrum of styles: Lou Reed, Pearl Jam, Rancid, and Blue Öyster Cult, among others. Carroll is perhaps most well-known for his memoir The Basketball Diaries, which eventually was translated to film and starred Leonardo DiCaprio. He was sixty years old.
