Steel Nation (Ethan)

What are your top five albums that were released in 2009? (In order 1-5)

  1. St. Hood - For The Dead

  2. Maximum Penalty - Life & Times

  3. Kickback - No Surrender

  4. Cold Inside - The Things I Failed to Tell You

  5. Behemoth - Evangelion

What band did you discover in 2009 (can be a brand new band or an older band) that had an impact on your life? What made them significant?

I was talking to my friend Miikka, he told me to check out St. Hood from Finland. Probably one of the best bands that I've heard in along time. They just play hard heavy music. No bullshit or gimmicks, just good riffs and grooves.

How will you remember 2009? (In terms of music)

2009 was an awesome year for hardcore, there was so many good records that came out. Honestly, a top five doesn't do justice for the releases in 2009. Wisdom in Chains, Strength for a Reason, Clenched Fist, Death Before Dishonor, Cheap Thrills... tons of bands had good releases. It was nice to finally have the Steel Nation record come out and get to do a few tours.

2009 was a huge year for reunions. What reunion excited you the most? What band that has not reunited would you love to see play/record most in 2010?

I guess you could consider the Stigmata last show up in Albany a reunion. I think they played the best set that I saw in 2009. I'm not really sure what band I'd like most to see do a reunion. I think there needs to be a final No Retreat and Built Upon Frustration show in

Pittsburgh.

What can we look forward to from you in 2010?

In 2010 there should be some sort of new Steel Nation record at least recorded and maybe even released. I'm sure we'll be doing some touring over the US and Canada, maybe Europe before the year is up. I'm sure I will be filling in for a band or two on some tour this summer. And who knows, if I get lucky my debut in the ECHL or something in the fall of 2010.

What three records are you looking forward to most in 2010?

Borrowed Time, Bitter End, No Turning Back
