Wolves & Thieves

(Jeremy Lux)

What are your top five albums that were released in 2009? (In order 1-5)

  1. Mando Diao - Give me Fire

  2. AFI - Crash Love

  3. Morrissey - Years of Refusal

  4. Paint it Black - Amnesia 7"

  5. Pearl Jam - Backspacer

What band did you discover in 2009 (can be a brand new band or an older band) that had an impact on your life? What made them significant?

I don't know that these bands impacted my life the same way other bands have, but they definitely caught my attention at the right time. To me they each had the right elements of a great band or a great sound: White Lies, MIND, Classics of Love, and Devotion.

How will you remember 2009? (In terms of music)

Hmmm. Selfishly all I can think of is my band's accomplishments and misfortunes. I was happy we got to tour and play new places. But with that comes debt, loss of opportunities, and more debt. As far as the radio, well, that shit is dead. All I hear is Radio Ga Ga.

2009 was a huge year for reunions. What reunion excited you the most? What band that has not reunited would you love to see play/record most in 2010?

Bands should just not break up anymore. Take long breaks and get over whatever issue it was that stopped your creative outlet. I don't think I saw any reunions this year. There are reunions that I want to see that will never happen. Then there are reunions that could happen. As far as hardcore, I would love to see Judge, and I think that one could happen. Mike, please get off the motorcycle, and get on the stage. As far as nostalgia goes, hands down Oingo Boingo. I know it might sound silly, but I love this band. Maybe Halloween next year?? Dead Man's Party.

What can we look forward to from you in 2010?

We start off the year playing with AFI, so that is really exciting. What a great way to start off the year. We are recording an EP soon and playing as much as we can, everywhere we can.

What three records are you looking forward to most in 2010?

Swingin' Utters, Ceremony, Bastards of Young. To tell you the truth I am not sure what is coming out next year, but I am always excited to hear new music.

It was about a year ago I discovered Unseemlier, shortly before the release of I Have A Screw Loose, Somewhere. It's a wordy title and a somewhat unwieldy band name -- and I’ll use that “a lot going on in a little space” metaphor even further to talk about the … Read more
