Frank Turner (Frank Turner)

What are your top five albums that were released in 2009? (In order 1-5)

  1. Future of the Left - Travels with Myself and Another

  2. Jamie T - Kings and Queens

  3. Converge - Axe to Fall

  4. Crazy Arm - Born to Ruin

  5. Chuck Ragan - Gold Country

What band did you discover in 2009 (can be a brand new band or an older band) that had an impact on your life? What made them significant?

I discovered Loudon Wainwright after a tip-off from a fan that I might be into his stuff. He's rapidly become my favorite songwriter. I basically want to be him when I grow up. His music and his words and just sublime.

How will you remember 2009? (In terms of music)

The year when the whole iPod and diagonal haircut band thing reached its apogee.

2009 was a huge year for reunions. What reunion excited you the most? What band that has not reunited would you love to see play/record most in 2010?

Reunions are often a little bit lame, to my mind. INXS, I mean, really? Cat Stevens is releasing records again, but, as well as being comprehensively weird, isn't very good any more. I'd love to see Nirvana get back together but somehow it isn't going to happen. I prefer to think about new bands, rather than live on past glories.

What can we look forward to from you in 2010?

Touring, and more touring, all over the world. I'm hoping to squeeze another album in at some point as well.

What three records are you looking forward to most in 2010?

My next one? Haha.
