What are your top five albums that were released in 2009? (In order 1-5)

What band did you discover in 2009 (can be a brand new band or an older band) that had an impact on your life? What made them significant?

A current band I discovered in 2009 that really caught my attention would have to be Take Offense from Chula Vista, CA. These guys play a flawless blend of Westcoast crossover and late 80s NYHC. Where many bands currently draw influence from more of the groove end of bands like Leeway, Breakdown, and Agnostic Front, Take Offense carry the speed and song structure from the same influences that I love most about this genre. Song structure based on fast repetitive riffs that lead into genuine hard loops and blazing divebombs. This band is hard as nails by nature, not by intent. And that's what keeps me hooked.

How will you remember 2009? (In terms of music)

2009 is a great year for hardcore. Bands are stepping up the writing, song structure, and reinventing classic styles. I feel like we are dancing on the edge of some great things to come in 2010-11. I think the bubble of underground hardcore has busted and kids are taking control again. I refuse to allow the neon mesh mosh crab core keyboard synth pop plague define these times with as much as we have going on for the core.

2009 was a huge year for reunions. What reunion excited you the most? What band that has not reunited would you love to see play/record most in 2010?

Let the dead stay dead. Nothings ever as good as you remember.

What can we look forward to from you in 2010?

The Mongoloids just recorded a new 7" that will be released through the combined efforts of Six Feet Under Records and Double or Nothing Records. Double or Nothing have plenty of diverse hardcore releases to come in 2010, along with a better mail order system.

What three records are you looking forward to most in 2010?

1. Terror - I have the feeling this will be their best record to date. Two great song writers playing in one of the most important and current hardcore bands could only lead to great things.

2. Katy Perry - New Record?

3. The Mongoloids - They have never had a good recording and they finally will. Song structure, solos, drums, vocal patterns, etc; all stepped up to make some interesting tunes. Very excited to see people's reactions.
