The Loved Ones

(Dave Hause)

What are your top five albums that were released in 2009? (In order 1-5)

  1. Monsters of Folk - Monsters of Folk

  2. Pearl Jam - Backspacer

  3. Tegan & Sara - Sainthood

  4. Jay-Z - The Blueprint 3

  5. Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band - Outer South

What band did you discover in 2009 (can be a brand new band or an older band) that had an impact on your life? What made them significant?

Monsters of Folk. A really cool idea that made for an amazing record and a great show.

How will you remember 2009? (In terms of music)

The Loved Ones were off a lot; we did only two and a half months of touring, so I wrote a bunch of songs on my own and made my own record. I really was fired up on the above records, really creative and great. The Avett Brothers, Regina Spektor, Girls, Lightning Dust and Neko Case all made awesome records.

2009 was a huge year for reunions. What reunion excited you the most? What band that has not reunited would you love to see play/record most in 2010?

I wasn't all that psyched on any of the reunions that went down. I would say the Replacements, but I feel like it might be a bit of a let down to see them attempt a reunion. Things run their course and in my experience trying to relive things is a let down.

What can we look forward to from you in 2010?

I'll release this record I wrote and recorded of my own material, not sure when or what it'll be called. I've been writing the next Loved Ones record so hopefully that will come out as well.

What three records are you looking forward to most in 2010?

Patty Griffin, Ted Leo, Spoon
