If I had to loosely describe The Pax Cecilia I would have to use the term "rock," but doing so would be a great disservice to the individuals that created Blessed are the Bonds. The eight songs that comprise the one hour of music that is this release do contain many different element; the band infuses their sound with elements of post-rock, metal, jazz, indie rock, post-hardcore, and even classical. The band falls somewhere between Kayo Dot, Neurosis, Thursday, and Converge. I know, that's a wide spectrum, but there are bits of each heard throughout. "The Tragedy" is a dizzying post-rock meets indie rock piece with a monumental building sequence - it reminded me of Murder by Death. "The Progress" is an unrelenting noise-laden cut of metal and post-hardcore fused as one. "The Water Song" and "The Tree" are beautiful soundscapes of indie rock, jazz, and classical music. The rest of the songs fill in just about everything in between.

The most amazing aspect of Blessed are the Bonds is that it is available for free directly from the band. I know what you're thinking

and no it's not just a photocopied cover and a CD-R. This is a full-blown CD in a digi-pak case and a complete booklet. So if you were at any point intrigued by this review, I urge you to contact the band for a copy. You will not be disappointed.
