Dark Days is a discography release that compiles the San Diego-based hardcore outfits previous material into one neat package. The CD opens with "The Bridge," one of three new cuts. The song is fast-paced hardcore song that is centered on individuals that travel to The Golden Gate Bridge only to commit suicide. "Holy Hands" and "Fun in Funeral" follow in similar fashion more gritty hardcore punk that demonstrates hints of rock-n-roll influence from San Diego scene. The next six tracks are from the band's 7" released on Eating Rats Records. Musically, they follow the same stylized sound: fast hardcore deeply rooted with a late Black Flag sound. Of the songs here, "Apple Eyes" is the standout cut - the chunky riffs and breakdown/lyrical combo at the end kills it. The final four songs are culled from the band's demo. One can definitely hear the band's growth since recording them two years ago. They're decent songs, but definitely pail to their newer material.
Dark Days is an excellent starting point for anyone unfamiliar with this SoCal outfit. If you're into fast and thrashy hardcore punk with hints of rock-n-roll, this is a band for you.
