It has been nearly 13 years since Hello Rockview was first released, and the album still holds up. Like with the first couple of re-releases, Sleep It Off have redesigned the original cover and coupled the original album with a live recording of it in its entirety.
There isn’t much left to be said about the studio recording of the album that hasn’t already been said over the past decade. It’s still one of the best ska-punk albums released. The main appeal of the re-release is the live recording of the entire album from a 2007 show in their home state of Florida with crystal clear audio. They manage to rip through every song with oodles of energy and excitement. When they do take a break between songs--you can enjoy some occasional funny banter that involves them cracking some jokes about themselves, dealing with a heckler, and some trivia regarding a few of the songs.
I’d recommend this for fans of live albums or if you’re looking to get someone into Less Than Jake. The CD release comes with a DVD of the live performance, while the audio of the show can be acquired from digital media outlets.
