Now this is a shock, another Hayaino Daisuki release by which to have all of our brains melted in short order following this hitting our stereos. The band, made of most of the members of Gridlink (featuring former members of Discordance Axis, Human Remains, Burnt By The Sun, and others), plays a thrash inspired metal that constantly goes on all twelve cylinders without any let up of the band's intensity. The Invisible Gate Mind Of The Infernal Fire Hell, Or Do You Mean Hawaii Daisuki? is the second EP from Hayaino Daisuki and picks up directly after where the last record ends.

Even though The Invisible Gate Mind Of The Infernal Fire Hell, Or Do You Mean Hawaii Daisuki? is only four songs, it is the perfect length; any longer, and the EP might be too much for listeners at any one time (it is that powerful). Seriously, this EP explodes as soon as it reaches earshot on the headphones or speakers (my animal friends went running when this came out the stereo speakers); but what the sheer speed and heaviness that Hayaino Daisuki displays masks is that of a surprising amount of melody in the blisteringly fast riffs (check the short burst of "Ghosts of Purgatory" for a fine example of such). The creepy vocals in "Shibito" add a different layer to the band's speed drenched repertoire that seems to up the menace level a bit while playing with some different rhythmic variations (the drummer in this band is ridiculous and machine like). "Kirel" showcases a completely different vocal style that sounds more like what one might expect of a traditional thrash outfit

At this point, I cannot think of anything to say about The Invisible Gate Mind Of The Infernal Fire Hell, Or Do You Mean Hawaii Daisuki? other than an astonished wow. I mean, this EP from Hayaino Daisuki has it all: blistering speed (check), jaw-dropping drumming (check), dashes of melody (check), and head dizzying compositions that are over before you know it (check). The scary aspect of this record is just how infectious it is (as I toss this on for the fourth time in a row); we are talking to the point of weird obsession. Fans of any of the previous bands of the people in Hayaino Daisuki will surely find this to their liking and is a serious leap from their first EP.

Ah, the long awaited return - at least among Discordance Axis fans - of Jon Chang the vocalist of the regrettably extinct grind outfit Discordance Axis. Hayaino Daisuki is one of two new groups (Gridlink being the other) for which Chang is providing vocals and words. And if these lyrics are anything like the sci-fi reference filled nerd out that … Read more
