It must have been over a decade on since I picked up Grace, the debut and what would be the last full-length from California's Mean Season. Out here on the east coast, they have been discussed in low voices and hushed whispers almost as if the band was some well kept secret. You see, Mean Season were around when Unbroken … Read more
Throughout the 1990s, San Diego, California, became well known for its lucrative pop-rock scene. Notable artists such as Blink 182, Unwritten Law, and Sprung Monkey sprung up from the depths of the just-north-of-the-border metropolis. Towards the end of the decade a band named Over My Dead Body,or xOver My Dead Bodyx to the Straight Edge kids, started playing decent-sized shows … Read more
Growing up in Cleveland I was more than spoiled when it came to hardcore bands: Integrity, The Spudmonsters, Committed, Ringworm, and countless others. I consider myself at least somewhat picky when it comes to hardcore. At least, I don't jump at everything with fast snare; however, this album is undeniably a great hardcore record. Lots of finger pointing fun and plenty of room for floorpunching and windmills. If you're into hardcore, or even if you aren't, check this album out. Read more
The Vows is the latest hardcore "super-group" to include Rob Moran of Unbroken. After his departure from the impressive Some Girls, he moved to Seattle, Washington and began this band. In the sparse liner notes, the band thanks old Seattle hardcore band Brotherhood and another older group, Amenity, for bringing them together; this is a good indication of the musical … Read more
You've probably heard of Zombie Apocalypse because you like Shai Hulud. Well, then in a sense you've heard this whole thing. It sounds like a bunch of unused Shai Hulud parts played at 78 rpms. There are a bunch of samples, practically one in each song, which aren't that funny or special. Side projects are fun because you can hear … Read more
