Last year Adam Reid & the In-Betweens released their latest LP, The Numbers Keep Repeating, the fifth album from the western Massachusetts-based band.
The concept of the band is simple: the songs are composed by multi-instrumentalist Adam Reid, then he recruits his friends to flesh them out in a full band format.
We're excited to share a new video from the record -- the title track "The Numbers Keep Repeating."
Reid tells us:
The song "The Numbers Keep Repeating" was my attempt to articulate the exhaustion and monotony experienced as a result of the productivity measures imposed on us by capitalism. There is such beauty in the spaces we create for ourselves: the DIY venues, cooperatives, and artist collectives where creativity, mutual aid, joy, and freedom are valued. Yet, we are so often subsumed by a system that demands we prove our worth solely through the ever-increasing amount of labor we are able to produce in a given hour or work day. This song is essentially a reminder to myself that we have more to offer this world than the labor we are forced to sell to survive and the productivity data generated to quantify our value.
So take a pause from earning a few pennies while your boss earns a bunch of dollars and check it out here:
The Numbers Keep Repeating released on Feb. 2, 2023 via Snappy Little Numbers and is the first album from Adam Reid & the In-Betweens since Resume (2019). The video was shot, directed, and edited by Piper Preston of Phantom Word Productions.
