Today we’re excited to team up with MOONRIIVR, an indie-folk group from Toronto, to share the song/video “10,000 Suns.” The song appears on their recently released full-length album, Vol. 1.
The minimalist folk group captured the new song with help from a Tascam 388 tape recorder, enhancing the group’s minimalist approach to songwriting that is rooted in classic rock and folk sounds. “10,000 Suns” uses a base of light guitar and string synths with carefully placed percussion to set a somber, reflective tone.
“‘10,000 Suns’” addresses the weight of the past,” vocalist Gavin Gardiner tells us. “How one can be crushed by shame, anger and regret. I’m not searching for answers within the song, but simply living in the present and looking towards love & forgiveness.”
The lineup on the group’s first album features Gardiner on vocals (The Wooden Sky), plus "Champagne" James Robertson (Lindi Ortega) on guitar, Ben Whitely (The Weather Station) on bass, and Lyle Molzan (Kathleen Edwards) on percussion. The album is available form Victory Pool.
