Chuck Ragan documentary
still from Landstick film

A 12-minute documentary focused on musician Chuck Ragan is now available through YouTube. Titled Landsick, the doc focuses on how the Americana musician and Hot Water Music member balances a nonstop schedule between music, family, and fishing (hence the pic).

The short film won "Best Story" at the Drake Film Awards.

"I knew Chuck through the fly fishing world but never knew about his other facets," says Peter Vandergrift, film producer and fly fishing community leader for Costa Sunglasses. "I was blown away when he started telling stories about his music and upbringing and thought viewers would be interested."

Hot Water Music is currently celebrating their 25 year anniversary and Ragan is also working on material for another solo album.

Rise (2024)

Genre labels have their place and I think they’re more useful than not -- but sometimes they just aren’t going to convey the point. Till Midnight
Side One Dummy (2014)

It’s almost at the point where Chuck Ragan has reinvented himself. Sure, he’s always had the voice and he’s done the countrified thing in the past with Rumbleseat, but the level of professionalism and dedication he’s brought to his solo project is worth noting. He’s now released four solo records and built his own momentum beyond the punk rock scene.Till … Read more

Exister
Rise (2012)

In some ways, you have to seriously respect everything that Hot Water Music has accomplished over the course of their existence from their starting point circa 1993 despite what is now two break-ups, but the much lauded four piece drops their second comeback album with Exister, the band’s first studio album in since 2004’s The New What Next; and since … Read more

It’s hard to believe that The Fest is in its 20th iteration. The festival always had ambition, but it’s a real testament to still be going 20+ years later. And not just because of pandemic challenges, but because punk bands tend to come and go. It would be impossible to … Read more

It’s been three very long years since SPB hit The Fest. Well, it all changes this year – we’re also getting our first taste of Pre-Fest, already in its fifth iteration. With a lineup of something like a million of our favorite bands (Iron Chic, Hot Water Music, Toys That … Read more
