Premiere: 2 new videos from Spokenest's upcoming LP

Posted by Loren on October 30, 2015

California duo Spoknest are self-releasing a new LP next year and they've given Scene Point Blank the honor or debuting two new videos from the forthcoming album.

Titled Gone, Gone Gone, they are aiming for an early 2016 release date, potentially March, with Drunken Sailor taking care of European distribution. The band is offering a "pay-what-you-want-for-whatever-you-want" sale of their merchadise to help fund its release.

Here's what guitarist/vocalist Daryl has to say about the record:

The title Gone, Gone, Gone is a lyric from the track "Gone" and, in the context of that song, refers to the absolute dissolution of any sense of patriotism that was instilled in me as a child. But when naming the album, it was chosen because it seemed to encompass the broader sense of ideas and emotions explored. A lot of the songs deal with suicide, relationships ending, and other forms of massive life changes that are not for the better.

While we typically try to offer some kind of optimism hiding in the stark, realist lyrics, Im not sure if that is there this time. Maybe next record? Hopefully by then every cop will be in jail.

I have a type, and it’s short and fast. I’m partial to it and probably less picky. It fills a need that my constantly fidgeting digits and bottomless coffee mug cannot. Besides, short and fast is just better. Duh.Spokenest are seemingly built on that same concept, playing finger-bleedingly fast guitar and drum in this husband-wife two-piece from California. On Gone, … Read more

Two piece bands seem to be gaining in popularity again, and it’s easy to see why from a musician’s perspective. The fewer people involved, the easier to organize, practice, and tour. There are duos done well (see Street Eaters) and lesser cases who aren’t getting the namedrop here. Spokenest is a newer project of similar ilk, bringing Adrian and Daryl … Read more
