Taking place June 1-3 near the small town of Ely, in eastern Nevada, Schellraiser music festival will feature a 3-day lineup with performances from Dinosaur Jr., Blonde Redhead, Murder By Death, Asleep At The Wheel, Death Valley Girls, Blitzen Trapper, and more, as well as live painting by Steve Keene. Surrounded by high destert landscapes nestled near the Schell Creek Mountian range, 2023 is the festival's second run, partly inspired by the picturesque and rural setting of the Trans Pecos Festival of Music + Love in Texas.

The Other Shore
Bloodshot (2018)

Not many bands can make it eight albums into their career without a single dud. Murder by Death's mainstays, Adam Turla and Sarah Balliet, have spent nearly 2 decades honing their skills as songwriters, and they’ve let their growth lead us out into Space. The Other Shore has Turla returning to more of a long form narrative again. However, it … Read more

Darkness Rains
Suicide Squeeze (2018)

Of all the phrases ever used to describe Ramones, “re-inventing the wheel” was most certainly not one of them. Some took this as disparaging, but what they did was take the design of the wheel and perfected it. There’s nothing wrong with this. We need bands like Ramones, and in this case, Death Valley Girls to provide that firm foundation … Read more

Big Dark Love
Bloodshot (2015)

Making a career in the arts is hard. The job description lands somewhere between self-expression and entertainment and there isn’t a sure fire way to know whether or not what you’re creating is going to be profitable until well after all the art is done and out in the world for public consumption. Complicating things further is the fact that … Read more

It's a little while after soundcheck and I've lined up shots of Jameson along the corner of the bar. I motion towards the drinks as Adam Turla walks over, but he smiles and shakes his head. "It's the fourth shot I've had to turn down tonight!" he says laughing. We … Read more
