Taking a moment to calm down from our normally heavy focus, we're sharing news of this summer's The Wild Hearts Tour, a co-headlining USA cross country trek featuring Sharon Van Etten, Angel Olsen, and Julien Baker.

Playing at mostly outdoor venues, the tour brings three like-minded artists together. In addition, Can Etten and Olsen collaborated on the single "Like I Used To" last year. Baker, respectively, released an album as well, Little Oblivions. One dollar from each ticket will benefit PLUS1, focused on support for people rebuilding their lives after incarceration.

My Woman
Jagjaguwar (2016)

Angel Olsen has been very active since the release of her debut cassette Strange Cacti, revealing a very promising work. Her dark indie folk/rock tone had a haunting effect, which peaked with Half Way Home and the excellent Burn Your Fire For No Witness. The delicate folk tones of Olsen were engulfed by a healthy dose of reverb, ample amount … Read more

Similar to how people said, “Alright, I guess we’re done with the novel now” after James Joyce’s Ulysses, I thought, “Alright, I guess we’re done with the singer-songwriter genre now” after Sun Kil Moon’s Benji, with its overwhelmingly detailed accounts of second cousins’ deaths and watching The Song Remains the Same. When I took a class on Ulysses (God, why … Read more

Tramp
Jagjaguwar (2012)

I’m not going to lie. I’m reaching a bit out of my comfort zone on reviewing this one. And, yes, the rating system is a bit skewed toward albums that fit into my more typical listening genres. In other words, it would take Sharon Van Etten a hell of an album to secure a high score. Tramp, her third release, … Read more
