The Blackburns, a power-pop band featuring several familiar scene faces from Philadelphia, PA, have anounced a new record called Alternative Rock, the band's second effort and a follow-up to their self-titled debut in 2024.
As the album title suggests, the band play hook-driven, radio friendly rock 'n' roll from members of Plow United and The Danger O's.
The first single is "A Reunion Show (Rated PG-13)."
"This song is about how your favorite band from back in the day is getting back together with all the original members and it's going to be so great and what could possibly go wrong. It's a totally made-up fictional story with no basis whatsoever in the real life experiences of any members of the Blackburns," Joel Tannenbaum (bass/vocals) says, tongue-in-cheek.
The album is out on April 24 via Sell The Heart Records.
The full lineup includes Tannenbaum and Nick Palmer (guitar, vocals), plus Abraham Koffenberger (guitar), Lynna Stancato (synth, vocals), and Justin Johnson (drums). Together their musical resume includes Plow United, The Danger O’s, Ex Friends, The Rentiers, and WAX WAV.
