Ohyung on Iowa

Posted in Records on January 25, 2026

Solo artist Lia Ouyang Rusli, performing as Ohyung, has announced a March 6 release date for the new album Iowa, a stripped-down and atmospheric record which documents Rusli's year in Iowa City 2023-2024 -- a period in which she composed scores for Happyend and Sorry, Baby.

“This record is my evocation of my time there, capturing both stillness and the pain of rupture, followed by an embrace of change,” Rusli says in a prepared statement. “It’s half internet and half physical: chopped and distorted Christian choral music funneled through cassettes and tube compressors, paired with textural high-end synthesizers, stock digital presets, and phone field recordings, all assembled like a film score.”

Ohyung released You Are Always On My Mind in 2025.
