Pacing for this summer

Pacing, a trio led by Katie McTigue, who is joined by Ben Krock (guitar) and Vonnie Whatever (drums/vocals), just shared "Pl*ne *tness, the title track from a new LP that comes out this summer on Asian Man Records. The single is on streamers now and it's the first new material since 2023's debut, which was named "Best Folk Music" on Bandcamp.

Pacing will be on tour this spring in support of Cheekface.

Of the title track, McTigue says:

This song is about cancelling my dad’s subscriptions when he died. Before he died, actually. When someone is dying there is a lot of sitting around waiting. It’s sad but it’s also awkward and uncomfortable and boring. I started cancelling membership just for something productive to do, and to get out of playing Uno!. I remember cancelling Netflix and filling out their little survey entering “I’m dead” as the reason for cancellation. When I got to the gym membership, I realized they only let you cancel in person. That’s bullshit!!!!

A few days later, Ben and I were driving around Atlanta running some other death-related bank-car-insurance errand, and we drove by the very same gym. Aha! My opportunity to be justifiably angry at a person! I made Ben pull over and I marched into the gym full of self-righteousness ready to unleash all of my problems on some unsuspecting, underpaid teenager. But alas, when I got to the counter they were really nice and so I was also really nice because I am a pansy. Next time.

Eventually I just closed the bank account, so all that membership cancelling was a waste of time anyway. I hope I don’t get sued for this song.
