Uboa just released a surprise new album, Impossible Light, out as of June 28 on The Flenser. It is the fifth album from the Xandra Metcalfe led project and began back in 2018 laboring through stylistic transitions.
"Impossible Light begins where Uboa's 2019 breakout album The Origin of My Depression left off — and ends somewhere entirely different," The Flenser states. The new record explores harsh and cinematic noisey soundscapes, but minus an industrial or rock influence.
"My last record, The Origin of My Depression, was fundamentally about hopelessness," Metcalfe says. "Impossible Light, on the other hand, isn’t. On the contrary, it's about the possibility of having a future."
It is streaming and available digitally now, with physical formats to come in November.
