The band initially formed in 1989 in Champaign-Urbana, IL, with Downward is Heavenward making Pitchfork's "Top 100 Albums of the 1990s" list. The band broke up officially in 2000, reuniting for shows between 2003-2019, and reforming to release Inlet in 2020.
