triton., a project of Scott Murphy, has shared the second single from the forthcoming album Sundown in Oaktown, out Jan. 27.
The new single is called "orchids" and features Tim Payne (Thursday, LS Dunes) and Jarrod Alexander (My Chemical Romance, Alkaline Trio).
"This song started out as a kinda delicate acoustic song with just a little kiss of synth. Geoff (Rickly) had suggested making it a high-point of the record, the apex of a build of energy. We talked about making it big, and sounding more blown-out. With that in mind, I sent it off to Tim(Payne)and Jarrod(Alexander) to do their things on it," Murphy says of "orchids."
With 12 songs in total, the album was co-produced by Rickly and also includes contributions from Aaron Gillespie (Underoath, The Almost), AJ Perdomo (The Dangerous Summer), Payne, and Alexander.
Murphy explains that he revisited previous compositions in 2020, building it into the album we'll see in early 2023.
