The complex and heavy doom metal meets indigenous throat singing compilation SteppenDoom has shared another track, this song being "Tamag & Ocmah," featuring throat-singer Albery Kuvezin (Yat-KHA) and Steve Von Till (Neurosis). The compilation is orchestrated by Marc Urselli.
The title of this song translates to "Hell & Heaven," and the title refers to a spelling variant of Uçmag, which in Turk and Altai myths is the place where righteous people assemble in afterlife, while all the evil will suffer for their crimes in Tamag.
Both artists contribute succinct and excited statements about the track:
Says Von Till: "I have been a fan of throat singing for a long, long time, especially the Tuvan variety", the NEUROSIS guitarist states. "I have fantasized about working with folks like Yat-Kha and have owned Huun Huur Tu albums since the early 90s. I would be up for anything when it comes to working with throat singers. Thank you for providing me with this dream opportunity!"
Kuvezin adds: "I have always felt that kargyraa has an affinity with the sound of rock, effect pedals, synthesizers and modulators...For many years I have mixed throat singing and rock music, especially with heavier genres, therefore I was so thrilled to be a part of this great project by Marc Urselli!"
The album comes out on Nov. 18.
