Ryan Shelkett has been a familiar face in the indie/emo scene since the mid '90s, playing with Cross My Heart and Liars Academy. After 30 years of playing with a full band, Shelkett will now release his debut solo album on June 10 through Steadfast Records.
Produced by J. Robbins, the album is titled Someone Becomes No One, which will release on physical and digital formats.
On the album, Shelkett plays stripped down rock, with dark Americana tones and tales of death, mourning, and aging -- fitting themes in these times we're living.
Today, Scene Point Blank is excited to share the lead single, "Corroded," a day before it hits streaming platforms.
Speaking of the single, Shelkett says:
“Corroded" is a song dealing with coming to terms with the aging process and how that relates to the overall themes of mortality that run throughout the entirety of Someone Becomes No One. To accent the lyrics and theme for the verses, I wanted a brooding and aching guitar melody that invokes an impending doom. By the finale of the song, I wanted it to sound like a street party with acceptance and celebration instead of dread and fear.
Preorders are available now from Steadfast. Learn more about the record here.
