Ready to let loose? Personally, I’ve been waiting to explode for months, but that situation has resolved itself, and I’m trying to chill out despite everything going on in the world. It’s always good to let loose though...let that manic energy out. You feel better afterwards. Our premiere today might do that for you.
Okay, this band is from Philly. I know how that works, I lived there for seven years. People work hard, musicians work hard, and that’s how you get anywhere. The Mary Veils are a four-piece group who have their latest EP ready to go. It’s out out November 5th on PNKSLM Recordings, and we’re premiering the album’s first track, "Rowhome". This band sounds like a ‘60s garage rock group that plugged their amps into a socket that’s spewing flames and smoke. Not that that’s bad. I kind of love it. Crank the fuzz to 11!
The band has this to say about the track:
"The song 'Rowhome' came together around about the same time as 'Home Video' in our first few practices as a full band and was one of the first songs we tracked with Jessie Gimbel in his basement studio. We liked the raw energy of the track and Jeff Zeigler (Nothing, War on Drugs, Kurt Vile) and Cory Hanson of Wand really kept it that way when mixing it. The song itself in a way is partially about where we come from. The term Rowhome and Rowhouse is unique to our area. A story of despair not uncommon to cities and blue collar areas. We wanted you to feel that dread."
Dig into the dread below and head over here to check the band out further and pick up the record.
