The Right Here, right now

Apologies for the headline, all you Jesus Jones fans out there.

Anyway, getting to the band known as The Right Here, they will release a new full-length album on Oct. 22 called Northern Town, via Rum Bar Records.

The record was written with a concept in mind, described in a pre-release statement as:

We wanted this record to tell the story, both musically and lyrically, of life up here in Anywhere North, USA. While most of these songs were written prior to the global pandemic, the themes of isolation and loss are even more salient in our new, chaotic world. Northern Town represents our best attempt so far at capturing the tug of war between comfort and restlessness, home and the road, leavin' and stayin'," the band says.

The album was recorded and mixed in 2019 and 2020 by Andy Mathison (Slow Death, Remo Drive) at Immortal Audio and Treespeak Studios in Minneapolis and Columbia Heights, Minnesota and features guest vocals from Cory Call (Arliss Nancy, Little Teeth), Micah Schnabel (Two Cow Garage), and of Todd Farrell (Benchmarks). The band has a release show scheduled for Friday Nov. 12 at Part Wolf in Minneapolis, MN, with Lutheran Heat, Permanent Residue (Chicago), and Loss Leader filling out the lineup.

Enjoy "Here We Go Again" from the upcoming release:

The songs are a little more expansive than your standard punk thang, with more lament, … Read more
