The Strangers are back -- officially with the release of new album Dark Matters on Sept. 10 -- but also now, via lead single "And If You Should See Dave..." The lead single is a tribute to late keyboard player Dave Greenfield who passed from COVID in May 2020.
JJ Burnel (vocals/bass/original member) comments on the single:
A year ago, on May 3rd my great friend and colleague of 45 years, Dave Greenfield, passed away, another victim of the pandemic. We had already recorded most of the album with him and during the lockdowns our only wish was to complete it as a fitting tribute to his life and work. I consider this to be one of our finest recordings.
Greenfield played with The Stranglers for 45 years and appears on 8 of the 11 tracks on Dark Matters.
The band's own Coursegood imprint will release the record, which will be distributed by BFD (Bob Frank Distribution)/The Orchard in North America.
