Botanist and Thief have announced a new split album: 12 new songs, 6 by each artist, and titled Cicatrix/Diamond Brush.
Available on August 27, the record is timed with the release of Thief's new full-length, The 16 Deaths of My Master.
The record positions San Francisco post-metal group Botanist on one side and Los Angeles' electronic project Thief on the other, two seemingly at-odds styles with much overlap. Both are one-person projects and Dylan Neal of Thief has previously played hammered dulcimer with Botanist as a silent member on the record, Collective: The Shape of He to Come.
Botanist has shared the fourth song from the split, "Antirrhinum," which is posted below.
"The plant with the Latin name 'Antirrhinum' is also known as 'Dragon Flower' or 'Snapdragon'", Otrebor aka Roberto Martinelli says of the title.
