Jealous Butcher has announced the reissue of Infinity X’s debut self-titled record, coming to vinyl + digital formats for the first time on February 5, 2021.
Originally released on CD-R via Chainsaw Records, the project features Tamala Poljak (Longstocking, Automaticans, Team Dresch), plus Jody Bleyle (Team Dresch, Hazel), Whitney Skillcorn (Robo Sapien), and Scotty Walsh (Automaticans).
A lead single, “Joanna” premiered earlier this week.
“I wrote this song a year before I met and fell in love with a girl named Joanna. The song just came out in one sitting…. with very few edits and only two chords the whole way through,” Poljak recalls. “It was also difficult to play live because the drum machine part is relentlessly monotonous (poor Scotty!)”
“I remember Tamala had a Moog and a drum machine and I couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen with them. Then playing this song live, trying to recreate the sound of the drum machine, you just can’t do it,” Walsh adds.
