Formed in Oakland, California in 2015 and now generally based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, rock group Conan Neutron & the Secret Friends features players known for their work in bands like Replicator, MELVINS, Trophy Wives and Coliseum to name a few. Over the years, they’ve produced several releases, including a full-length focusing on the Hannibal Lecter mythology.
For their upcoming release, they’ve put together a work dealing with concepts relevant to our current situation on Earth 2020. Tracks on Dark Passenger tackle subjects like bipolar complex, impostor syndrome, suicidal ideation, anhedonia, and general manic depression.
Premiering here is the punchy “Misery Machine,” about which vocalist/guitarist Conan Neutron says: “"Misery Machine' is a flat out rocker, one of the few more straight forward songs on the entire record, for me it has a NWOBHM vibe, but I may be the only one that hears that. I certainly never heard of any Judas Priest song with a Data Corrupter solo. Lyrically it is in the title, for those dealing with mental health it is very easy to think of yourself as some kind of factory that produces dark thoughts, unhappiness, angst and distress."
Dark Passenger releases in December on Learning Curve Records and can be preordered here.
