Second album from Partial Traces

Salinas Records will release Partial Traces' Low Definition on Sept. 27, the second album by the Minneapolis, MN-based group.

A video for "Here We Go" is out now. Speaking of the video, vocalist and synth player Maren Macosko says, “We made a fast & simple video for this song for an art installation we did in April 2019. It ran in a loop on 6 old TV monitors as one of several pieces in the install, and the way people reacted was really interesting. Younger people wondered about the v-hold on the old TVs, everyone was kind of surprised to see that the person in the video (me) was also there, hosting the install.”

While the band features members of Banner Pilot, Dear Landlord, Sovietties, and The Gateway District, Partial Traces plays atmospheric, fuzzy post-punk-inspired tunes.

When the small drum machine picks up you feel a sense of relief. References to travel, reflections and an illusive love are all present again, but don’t feel too overused. … Read more

Salinas Records (2021)

Partial Traces play pop-inspired keyboard rock – but not at all the kind you imagine when you hear those words. In pop songs, the keyboard generally brings melodrama or atmosphere. In Partial Traces, those two ideas meet in the middle. It’s emotional and serious, but instead of dramatic, it’s tonal. It feels real and authentic, which largely comes from the … Read more

Can’t Come Down / Nights I Dream
Independent (2020)

This synth punk group hails from the headwaters of the Mississippi River. A mighty mass of water that connects Minnesota to Louisiana and sings all the way south. Water seemingly makes music as it flows and this super group (FFO: The Soviettes, Dear Landlord) is actively tapping into that source. Raw emotive vocals give me chills on the first spin. … Read more
