On June 1, Uke-Hune will release their self-titled debut on Fat Wreck Chords. The band is lead by Spike Slawson (Swingin' Utters, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes) and started as ukulele project. The record features renditions of cover songs from Slawson and a back band that features members of Filthy Thieving Bastards, Real McKenzies, The Ramshackle Romeos, RKL, and others. It separates itself from his Me First and the Gimme Gimme work with an ear for earnesty and seriousness.
“There is definitely touring in our future," noes Slawson on the new project.
As you may be aware, dear reader, there are millions of songs out there just waiting their turn to be given new life as a ukulele anthem, so rest assured that this is only the beginning of this unique ensemble. As long as someone keeps writing them, Uke-Hunt will keep on playing them.
