For the Sake of the Bit
Red Scare Industries (2018)

Elway kick off their latest with “Inches,” a middle finger at those of us listening to and writing about their music. So, well, I’m not the type to throw fuel on the fire so I’ll leave it at that. They’re entitled to their opinions. Tim Browne even shared some great points in an SPB guest column. The notable point in … Read more

Leavetaking
Red Scare Industries (2013)

Listening to Elway’s debut Delusions there was a lot of promise. It’s a solid record, nice songwriting, big hooks and memorable choruses. Nate Allen (Destroy Nate Allen) SPB: What’s the story behind your band name? Allen: I had played music as "Nate Allen" for a few years in San Francisco. Nobody really cared. I had done a few northwest shows but for the most part the music was just mediocre Johnny Cash … Read more

Guest Column: Tim Browne (Elway) - sexism in the punk scene

Regular Columns • September 29, 2013

If ever there was such a thing as socio-political discourse in the contemporary punk “community” (which I should qualify as being a very tiny and specific niche of semi-semi-noteworthy bands such as my own), one of the most delicate and hotly debated issues these days is gender and sexism within … Read more
