Collective Sounds will be releasing a new EP from reggae legend Jimmy Cliff in November. The EP, Cliff's first studio record in seven years, will be produced by Tim Armstrong of Rancid fame and will contain a mix of covers and originals. On the pairing, Cliff states, "Tim has such a great foothold in the tradition. He woke me up to a lot of the things I had forgotten...I enjoy the creative spontaneity of collaborating with other people. I always want to try new things. It's the type of creative energy I have." Armstrong adds, "This is Jimmy's record and I'm honored to be a part of it."

Music blog Stereogum recently debuted Cliff's cover of "Guns of Brixton," originally by The Clash.
