We've shared music from Brooklyn, NY quartet Two-Man Giant Squid in the past, and today we're excited to announce that the band has a full-length album on the way. The new record will will be called Intro To Basement, out on August 18, but today we get an early teaser, the single "Progress," a tongue-in-cheek piece that's equal parts snark and vitriol, asking you to always question intentions.
That's our summary, but frontman Mitch Vinokur puts it a little better:
"Progress" is a lively punk blitz that is filled with character and charisma. It reminds you that progress may not always be what you think it is. And that the world is filled with snake-oil salesmen ready to get you rich and "sell progress" if you just take them up on their buzzword filled offers to "take your brand, and mix with my brand".
Melodic guitars kick things off, before moving more angular as the band's punchy post-punk vibes kick into gear, dancing between rhythmic blasts and sassy vocals. It's a little bit dystopian and a little bit aggressive all while wading in that uncertain in-between terrain.
An album release show will take place at Baby's All Right on August 31.
