One week ahead of their debut release, Philadelphia, PA band Stud Count are sharing a new single called “Maniacal Laughter.”

The sone will be featured on their self-titled EP, which releases July 22 via Smartpunk Records.

Guitarist Matthew shares some insight as to why the band is featuring this track:

At the heart of it, Stud Count is a punk band. That means everything from The Stooges to SSD plays a role in how we write. We chose “Maniacal Laughter” as the third single for the record way before we’d played it live, but the crowds reacted measurably to that and the other harder songs we played on our first tour a couple months ago; it really affirmed the choice. So far it seems a lot of people who haven’t listened to hardcore punk ever, or in a long time, have been roped back in by the track. Hoping that’s a trend with this track and the record as a whole; that energy is hard to match even in the hardcore/punk adjacent world.

The band formed in late 2019, solidifying its lineup and working on demos through the pandemic-related shutdowns since, finally leading up to next week’s debut.
