Joyful Noise has set up a new imprint label, to be run by guitarist/producer Yonatan Gat (Monotonix), called Stone Tapes.
In a press release, Gat states: “Stone Tapes is a space where radical experimental musicians and radical traditional musicians collaborate.”
This begins with the release of a debut LP from Medicine Singers, a collaboration between Gat and the Native American powwow group Eastern Medicine Singers. Additional artists slated for 2022 collaboration with the label include Maalem Hassan BenJaafar and Mamady Kouyaté.
The imprint is part of Joyful Noise's larger Artist in Residence series, which involves an artist branching out to create material for a subscription that ultimately is released as a physical box set. In 2022, that artist is Gat.
In related news, Monotonix are expected to release new music later this year as well.
