Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley were released from Arkansas prison last week, following an Alford plea. The three were convicted in May 1993 of murdering three boys in West Memphis, AR. Since the original trial, numerous questions have arisen involving their case, evidence, and the original trial that included a focus on the three's musical tastes and Wiccan practices. Over the past eighteen years, several celebrities have taken up their cause, including Henry Rollins and the documentary Paradise Lost.
The Alford plea allows the three to leave prison without an official "not guilty" plea.
