Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante has apparently left the LA funk rockers for the second time. He has been replaced by his longtime solo collaborator Josh Klinghoffer, who worked on many of Frusciante's prolific solo records, as well as recorded alongside Frusciante and Fugazi bassist Joe Lally under the name Ataxia.
An anonymous source states:
"Mentally, John checked out a long time ago. He's interested in doing his own thing, his own albums - the whole big rock band machinery just doesn't appeal to him anymore."
Frusciante released The Empyrean earlier this year.
