Experimental psych-rock band Salamander is releasing their final single to their debut LP [container]!

Scene Point Blank is excited to premiere that final single "wave emoji" in anticipation of the release of [container] via Cropsey Records tomorrow October 18! Listen to "wave emoji" here:

As dedicated members of the Brooklyn DIY scene, Salamander wrote “wave emoji” in full collaboration as a band further highlighting their fluid songwriting process and experimental arrangements—there's distortion, shoegaze, sludgy vocals, catchy chords—something for everyone.

Leo Frampton explains:

We have a song on our last EP (tooth / waste) called “water” that we have played live many times, so much that we got tired of playing the ending and started riffing on it. God psychically spoke to PJ in band practice and PJ began monologizing about water over looping guitar improvisation, while I started screaming my melody instead of singing it near the end. It eventually became its own song and we felt it deserved to be recorded. We got in the studio with Carlos Hernandez (Gravesend Recordings) and did a few long live recordings of the instrumental that we edited together. We had our friend Lyris (Talulah Paisley / Trextasy) sing and harmonize over my vocals, making them sound considerably better. We want this song to bring peace to our listeners as well as a sense of urgency. Please be happy, but not too happy.

Salamander formed in 2019 when songwriters PJ Hunter and Leo Frampton played an impromptu experimental pop show during their last semester at SUNY Purchase. The show included a flute, loop pedal, pre-set casio beats, heavy distortion, and, of course, melodies. In 2021, drummer Ben Verde joined the group, solidifying the band as known today.
