Formed by Mike Wiebe and Rob Marchant (Riverboat Gamblers) and Zach Blair (Rise Against), Drakulas have signed with Dine Alone Records for their upcoming full-length. Described as an art-rock marriage of proto-punk, garage, '80s synth, and new wave, the dynamic, high energy band previously released the OWOWOWOW ep and album, Raw Wave. They also play at 2pm today at Riot Fest in Chicago.

Stuart Sikes (The White Stripes, Rocket From The Crypt) produced the upcoming album. SPB also wrote up their live show in our Fest 17 coverage.

Dine Alone (2020)

Pre-album press releases for the latest Drakulas album pushed the “art-punk” label. Based on Drakulas’ earlier work, I got it – but I also thought it was a little bit off. They’ve always had elements of some deeper conceptual stuff going on, but it always felt too straight-forward and rollicking to me. Right or wrong, I associate art-punk as being … Read more

Raw Wave
Dirtnap (2016)

At this point Riverboat Gamblers have enough side projects that there’s almost an expectation of sound before listening, that unifying factor between all the different bands that have spidered from the source band. Introduce Drakulas, who released an EP on Red Scare Industries last year and now come with a full-length Raw Wave debut on Dirtnap Records. Not only does … Read more

Gangs, porno, and video game addiction. That’s the hook right there, but we’ll keep going. With Drakulas, a band featuring familiar faces from Riverboat Gamblers and Rise Against, about to release a new album next year, SPB reached out to frontman Mike Wiebe to learn a bit more about the … Read more
