A new project named Jumpstarted Plowhards has announced its debut, Round One, set for release on October 4 on Recess Records. The project is a collaboration between bassist Mike Watt (Minutemen, Firehose, and more), plus guitarist/singer Todd Congelliere (Toys That Kill, more) and a rotating cast of drummers handpicked based on the composition.
The two California-based musicians first met in the early 1990s when Mike Watt's dos played shows with F.Y.P. In 2017, Watt proposed a collaboration that grew into Jumpstarted Plowhards. The band works by Watt creating bass parts, then sent to Congelliere, who then recruits a different drummer based on the individual track. Five "rounds" are planned at present, with work on round 2 underway at present.
Many drummers appear on Round One, including George Hurley (Minutemen, Firehose), Patty Schemel (Hole), frequent Watt colleagues Jerry Trebotic (mike watt + the secondmen) and Raul Morales (mike watt + the missingmen), Jimmy Felix (Toys That Kill), Nick Aguilar (Neighborhood Brats), and more.
The album releases on 12" vinyl.
