SPB premiere: Fugue State - Subtlety's Dead

Shane Bruno, also of Bridge of Flowers, spent the pandemic shutdowns as most of us did: filled with uncertainty about the future and itching to do something productive. The result is the fittingly titled new project Fugue State, who releases its debut, Subtlety's Dead, tomorrow on May 30, via Strange Mono Records.

Dan Timlin, founder of Strange Mono describes the energetic, yet experimental sound well, calling it “Free association meets garage punk sleaze. A rumination on the noisy, the unclear, and the uncertain." Think of acid punk like Butthole Surfers, but with equal parts noise and warped melody. It both captures the spirit of rock 'n' roll but pushes the limits on melody.

Preorders are available now, with all proceeds of the album to be donated to the National Network of Abortion Funds.

Subtlety's Dead releases on limited cassette as well as digital formats.
