SPB premiere: "Testify!" by The Discarded

Posted in Records on October 14, 2024

Formed in 2016 and nearing a decade as a band, Canadian punks The Discarded are back, announcing their sixth studio album,  The Green Door, out Nov. 25, 2024.

Comprised of father and son JP and Caden Wasson (guitar/vocals and drums, respectively), plus bassist Jared Dean Wasson and new guitarist Ben Keestra, the new single delivers a blast of roaring '60s garage rock with a southern preacher twist. The song showcases how the punk-rooted back incorporates wider influences that lean into a traditional rock sound.

"After eight and a half years as a band, seven albums and one EP, with this album, we looked to take our sound, recording and songwriting up a notch," JP tells us about The Green Door. "We took our time to craft an all around solid record that still retained the energy of what this band is about. Recorded over a one year period, we wanted to get it exactly how we wanted it to sound, adding the little extra parts to give it a cool polished, overall sound and feel. We're quite excited at the end result which is probably the best sounding and strongest album we've made to date."
