Lane Oliver (Yatsu – guitar)
SPB: Which of your songs is hardest to play live?
Oliver: The hardest song to play live is typically “Influencers & Straw Men.” Everyone’s respective parts are incredibly frenetic and full of rapid tempo changes. For guitar, the intro and closing riffs fly up and down the neck and can be pretty tricky if you’re not in the zone. The first “verse” riff has a lot of weird chord and rhythm choices (worshipping at the altar of Coalesce) that can sometimes be difficult to articulate properly. Thankfully there is a bit of an avant-garde bent to what we do so we can improv certain difficult sections into something new if need be. But on the whole it’s a track that kicks everyone’s ass.
