Michal Kielbasa (Whalesong)
SPB: The band name seems uniquely fitting. What was its inspiration/origin?
Kielbasa: Many years ago I read an article which stated that whales never sing the same song twice. I really loved the concept of not playing the same, to let the music constantly evolve and to go in new directions.
Not repeating ourselves was one of the main goals of this band since the very beginning. Even when we play songs live they differ quite a lot when compared to their studio versions. Another additional thing regarding the band's name: whales are huge: and I want this band to sound huge, tremendous and mighty. You can especially hear this on “Leaving a Dream” and “Radiance of a Thousand Suns” albums. They have this overwhelming feeling.
