SPB: What song has the best use of whistling?
Elliot: “Young Folks” by Peter Bjorn and John....the whistle is the hook....and starts the song... (although that Guns ‘N’ Roses song probably sold more records...)
Sharon: “Love Is A Battlefield” by Pat Benatar.
Her album Crimes of Passion was the first cassette I ever bought (but that song was not on it), along with Foreigner 4 on the same day. Also, "Hell is for “hildren" is one of my fave karaoke songs.
John: I heard that Andrew Bird and Mariah Carey once went back-and-forth backstage at an awards show -- Mariah matching Andrew’s whistling with her voice. This seems like an improvement on the “teeth-cutting” scene in the movie “Crossroads” when Ralph Macchio defeats Satan (played by Steve Vai) in a spontaneous guitar solo competition.
