SPB: Have you ever signed a band you didn’t personally know?

Pohl: Yes, I've worked with many bands that I didn't personally know beforehand.  Most have been introduced to me by other bands or musicians that I personally knew, such as Failing Up, Original Son and Heavy Seas. There have been a few that I was turned onto either by the band reaching out directly to me or via someone else on their behalf that I didn't know. The Dreaded Laramie, Neckscars, Raised on TV and Datura are examples on that end. I guess the moral of the story is: I'm always interested in hearing new music, so feel free to reach out (but I HIGHLY recommend that you study up on the label and the bands before you do).
